Ariadne Day Care Centre PDF Print E-mail

In 2004 KMOP established a Day Care Centre in central Athens to offer support for persons with chronic but moderate mental disorders, who face social exclusion at educational, social and employment levels. The ages of the persons registered at the centre range between 20 and 50. Having less severe mental diseases, they are able to live with their families and spend the days at the Centre, where they receive ergotherapy and have their social skills developed by the Centre’s dedicated staff. Among other activities, KMOP offers drama therapy; a therapeutic process that provides space for creative expression, imagination and personal growth, and is a valuable tool for treating those with less difficult mental problems. Specialised staff run weekly drama therapy workshops that promote awareness, exploration and reflection of feelings and relationships. The aim is that after 18 months - the estimated time for sufficient psychological support to be given and for adequate social skills to develop - they will be able to function on their own in society.
