European Commission | The goal of the project is to ensure in the professional working environment a ‘front line’ assistance to persons subject to violence in their couple relationship. The project also seeks to reduce the impact of such violence on the professional inclusion of these persons, whille encouraging professional inclusion arrangements in a way that enable these persons to take the necessary steps to get out of the situation of violence. The project will allow assistance to be given to the victims as well as to the perpetrators of violence. | KMOP will draft a 2-day training course for grassroots agencies based on a tool prepared by the project leader. It will also assess the current ongoing public health nutrition campaigns. Project activities also aim at determining how nutrition information on food labels can affect dietary choices, consumer habits and food-related health issues by developing and applying an interpretation framework incorporating both the label and other factors/influences. | KMOP will cover the Greek market, and analyse different kinds of nutrition labels found on products available in Greek supermarkets. The project included also, dissemination and publicity actions to raise awareness and sensitize people. | 2008 | ALKYONIS : Development of a farm for the occupational therapy of the mentaly ill in Kapandriti | Ministry of Employment and Social Insurance - ESF | The project provided some additional services to the patients of the Group Houses established by KMOP in the area of Kapandriti, in North Attica. The adjacent garden area of the Group House ALKYONIS, was exploited through cultivation of fruits and vegetables in order to make patients with mental illnesses feel active and energetic so as to integrate them in the local community. Another goal of this initiative was to enable the patients of the Group Houses to gradually acquire some income from the distribution of fruits and vegetables. The project was held under the Operational Programme of "Employment and Vocational Training", during the second call of the Measure 1.6 titled as "Actions for Reinforcing Employment through the active participation of Non-Governmental Organisations" issued by the Greek Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance. | KMOP set up and ensured the proper functioning of a small greenhouse on the external premises of the Group House ALKYONIS. That also involved agricultural activities such as planting of trees and vegetables in which the mentally ill patients that live in the grouphouses, were actively participated. In addition, the staff that was recruited for the purpose of the project, provided opportunities that actively stimulated patients in order to help in their individual rehabilitation and contributed to the social inclusion of people with mental disorders in society, through their interaction with local community members during the distribution of the goods produced. While implementing the project actions KMOP recruited young unemployed agronomists, to enhance their employment opportunities, which in fact constituted a parallel objective and a fundamental specification of the project. |
| 2008 | Establishment of a Reconciliation Center for Family and Proffesional Life in the Municipality of Perama | Ministry of Employment and Social Insurance - ESF | The implemented project was a complet action plan of intervention that was focused in one of the more basic factors that create inequalities between the two sexes and women low rates of employment. The main project objective constituted the social acceptance and application of new ways for reconciling family and professional life. The project was held under the Operational Programme of "Employment and Vocational Training", during the second call of the Measure 1.6 titled as "Actions for Reinforcing Employment through the active participation of Non-Governmental Organisations" issued by the Greek Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance. | The established center on Family and Professional Life reconciliation issues, provided a great variety of advisory services that allows individuals of the target group to achieve more effectively the combination of their family and professional life. More specifically, a specialized psychologist and social worker provided services of psycho-social support, while a professional counselor provided orientation in unemployed individuals that were interested in re-entering the job market or others that were seeking to leave their work for another. At the same time, information was provided to access services, e.g. day nurseries, specialized centers for children with special needs, training institutions etc. Also, the staff that was recruited during the project phase in the established center, provided advisory services to enterprises that were interested in addopting ways for reconciliating family and professional life in favor of their staff. The project was realized by KMOP's branch in the Municipality of Perama, an underpriviliged area located near Piraeus, in Attica Region. |

The fundamental objective was the promotion of equal opportunities between men and women through their equivalent participation in positions of senior management and the reconciliation of professional and family life. The project refered to the development of positive actions promoting equality from SME's. It was addressed in all enterprises based in Greece, operating in all sectors of the economy from the private sector as well as in enterprises of the wider Public Sector having the legal form of S.A. The project was held under the Operational Programme of Employment and Vocational Training, of the Measure 5.1 titled as "Positive Actions for equal opportunities between men and women in SME's and large enterprises", issued by the General Secretariat for Gender Equality. | KMOP undertaked the provision of support services to 50 women working at the company. European Commission | Set within the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All 2007, the project consisted of a set of day workshops in six EU Member States. The issues addressed at these day workshops focused on the three connected aspects of "Citizenship", "European dimension", "Family dimension" in an approach of equal opportunities for all. Each day workshop gave rise to reports and recommendations, which were disseminated by one or more of the methods provided for by the project (Internet, CD-ROM/DVD, print publication). | KMOP arranged a Study Day on the topic of the role of men in the family. A multilayered debate on an intercultural issue of such relevance in the 21st century as the role of men in the family, helped to increase among Greek citizens the sense of belonging to the same European community and contribute to the development of a European identity. This aim was achieved through ensuring local level participation. It represented a very topical issue on which to raise awarness of citizens’ rights and responsibilites at local, national and European levels. |

| 2007-2008 | Further development of a Mask Museum in Kapandriti | Ministry of Employment and Social Insurance - ESF | This project aimed at the further development of the museum of masks established in Kapandriti; representing a large range of civilizations worldwide. This initiative was instigated in 2006. It was a new idea in Greece, which didn't host such a museum dedicated to masks, and resulted in as an additional asset in other activities carried out by KMOP. The museum is accommodated in one of the KMOP Group Houses for mentally ill in the area of Kapandriti, in northern Attica, which had a vast basement area that was highly suitable for such purposes and already equipped.
In addition, the project provided opportunities so as to actively stimulate the patients of the Group Houses, promoting their individual rehabilitation, and contributing significantly to their social inclusion into society, through their interaction with the local community members that visit the mask collection. The project was held under the Operational Programme of "Employment and Vocational Training", during the first call of the Measure 1.6 titled as "Actions for Reinforcing Employment through the active participation of Non-Governmental Organisations" issued by the Greek Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance | Owing to previous funding from international sources, KMOP has been able to equip the museum venue, and has also gone about collecting a large number of ancient tragedy and comedy masks. During the duration of the project KMOP extended its search to foreign countries aiming at building up a large international collection. Not only the masks themselves, but also supporting background material, such as books and films are displayed in the museum. The idea is to describe the history of each mask, the civilization and the culture it represents. The museum venue is the 400 m basement area of the KMOP Group House KALYPSO in Kapandriti, Attica. | 2006-2007 | Workroom for the occupational therapy of the patients of Kapandriti | LIMMAT STIFTUNG (PATRONAGE ESMERALDA) - Co-financing | This project provided crucial initial funding, which was provided by the Swiss organization LIMMAT STIFTUNG, realizing a long-term plan of firmly establishing a museum of masks; representing a large range of civilizations worldwide. It was a new idea in Greece, which didn't host such a museum dedicated to masks. Also, the initiative functioned as an important asset in other activities carried out by KMOP. The museum would be accommodated in one of KMOP's Group Houses for the mentally ill located in the area of Kapandriti, in Northern Attica, which had a vast basement area that was highly suitable for such a purpose. In addition, the project provided opportunities so as to actively stimulate the patients of the Group Houses, promoting their individual rehabilitation, and contributing significantly to their social inclusion into society, through their interaction with local community members that visit the mask collection. | The implemented actions prepared the venue of the museum, which constituted the 400 m basement area of the KMOP Group House Kalypso in Kapandriti, Attica. Seeking a qualitative comparative study at the European level representing the different countries involved, an analysis of the present legislation on parental leaves was coupled with a content analysis on compositions written by students of secondary schools. The youngsters expressed themselves on the distribution of labour between the parents on the issue of family obligations, amount of time and attention devoted to the children by each parent, and on the perceptions of the male’s and female’s role in society | As the national partner, KMOP conducted all the activities for the Greek report. Successfully obtaining the permission from the Ministry of Education to contact schools, KMOP was able to gain access to pupils in order to gather compositions. Analysed in different national settings, the project poses the general question of how to encourage the participation of men in their family, whether in educating and caring for their children, or caring for their elderly parents. The project also addressed the specific cases of families with disabled persons, as well as single parent families, all from a man’s perspective. | The role of KMOP in the project was to examine Greek men’s perspective over the past decade on caring for elderly parents. The project was held under the Measure 2.2 titled as "Development, completion, extension of structures in the community, for an integrated implementaion of the psychiatric reform”, of the Operational Programme of Health - Welfare in combination with a National Initiative Programme called "Psychargo" , issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. In 2009, the Center was relocated in Pireaus. | The Day Care Centre provided support to people with mental illness, who face social exclusion in every aspect of life. There were 13 persons registered during the implementation phase, 20 to 50 years old. Having less severe mental disorders, they lived with their families and spent the days at the Centre, where they received ergotherapy and had their social skills promoted by the Centre’s dedicated staff. Among other activities, KMOP offered drama therapy; a therapeutic process that provided space for creative expression, imagination and personal growth, and is a valuable tool for treating those with less difficult mental problems. Specialised staff run weekly drama therapy workshops that promoted awareness, exploration and reflection of feelings and relationships. The aim was that after a period of 18 months - the estimated time for sufficient psychological support to be given and for adequate social skills to develop - they would be able to function on their own in society. KMOP tackled this problem in one of Attica’s most deprived area, Korydallos, in collaboration with the Swiss foundation Limmat Stiftung and the local municipal authority. The project was addressed to students at the level of high school, who stanted out by their poor academic record and their lack of interest in classes. The activities implemented were focused on reinforcing teaching in certain core subjects such as Greek language and mathematics, and are complemented by accompanying services for the students concerned and their respective families. | Accompanying services included individual and group counselling by experienced social workers and psychologists, providing vocational orientation and guidance, as well as recreational activities and cultural events. The main aim was to provide support to the children and their families so as to avoid problematic situations in their living enviroment that could culminate in students dropping out of school. It presented comparative studies, where each national partner examined to what extent national legislation on Equal Opportunities is adhered to by employers and employees. Information campaigns were also used, targeting employers, trade union representatives, as well as male and female employees alike, in order to sensitize them to the reality of reconciliation of work and family. Supporting material for these campaigns constituted brochures and flyers. As a result, after the completion of the vocational training courses the beneficiaries of the project established a small social enterprise that produced and sold floriculture products, titled as "IRIS".
