Financial Manager (EU-Funded Projects)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Financial Manager who will facilitate the efficient and effective financial management of the broad portfolio of EU-funded projects. He/She will responsible for the financial management of the project, including budgetary controls, procurement, monitoring of project and financial performance/progress, reporting activities of our projects and will carry out important operational duties closely with the project management team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor closely the Grant Contract Requirements and Donors’ Templates
  • Monitor project budgets closely and assist Project Managers/Unit Coordinators on any issues of concern
  • Check expenditures against budgets, prepare monthly expenditure reports and ensure filing of financial documents
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all project related financial transactions in the Organization’s financial monitoring system
  • Responsible for preparing quarterly, semi-annual, and annual donor reports as required by Project Guidelines
  • Support with preparation of calls and service contracts regarding potential service awards to external collaborators
  • Review EU/international project partners’ eligibility of expenses in accordance with the respective program’s handbook
  • Identify discrepancies between forecasts, budget, and actual spent or/and unspent amounts
  • Work with the accounting department on any issues related to monitor, tracking and processing of payments
  • Assist in internal and external audits of donor contracts.
  • Perform check and review in Grant, Consortium and Partnership agreements linked with program and projects, when required

The Financial Manager:

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards as per organizational policies
  • Adhere to the organization’s Code of Ethics for integrity in all procurement activities
  • Refers to the Head of Finance of the organization

REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
  • At least 3 years of working experience in financial management of European Programs (e.g., budgeting, reporting and regulations)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in Greek and English as the role requires extensive interaction with other departments and people of all levels.
  • Working knowledge of ERP, CRM Software packages
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Strong ability to establish priorities, work within tight timelines and multi-task
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail and determination to meet deadlines

Considered Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Proficiency in a second foreign language
