European Migrant School for the Rights of the Child

Commit

In 2019, children accounted for 12% of the migrant population worldwide. Protecting their rights is of critical importance for their successful integration in their host countries, their personal development & wellbeing.

Within this framework, KMOP, in cooperation with the MELISSA Network of Migrant Women in Greece, organized on July 6 and 7 the face-to-face training seminar “European Migrant School for the Rights of the Child”, aiming to engage migrant communities in the protection of the rights of the child.

In total, 35 individuals coming from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, such as members of migrant communities and professionals working with children and migrants, attended the seminar and enhanced their knowledge about issues that safeguard children’s rights, and foster their personal development and wellbeing. Specifically, the training covered topics such as the main principles and articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, what are the risks and forms of violence against children, while participants examined in which ways communities can contribute to protecting children’s rights.
