“Den exeis thesi edw – You don’t belong here”. A phrase no one should ever have to hear. A message that concerns us all.
KMOP, the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs, and the Greek National Commission for Human Rights (GNCHR) have launched a new nationwide awareness campaign to prevent and address racism, discrimination, and intolerance in Greece.
With the central message “Den exeis thesi edw – You don’t belong here”, the campaign, coordinated by KMOP, draws attention to a reality that many people continue to face because of their national or ethnic origin, religion or beliefs, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation or other characteristics. This reality is reflected in the findings of the nationwide “ECOSYSTEM” survey, in which nearly 8 in 10 respondents said they had experienced some form of discrimination in Greece.
At the heart of the campaign is racism-victim-support.gr, a comprehensive platform providing information, guidance and support for people who have experienced or witnessed racism, discrimination or hate crime.
Through the platform, people can:
- learn about their rights;
- recognise incidents of racism and discrimination;
- access practical guides and educational resources;
- find relevant organisations and available support mechanisms.
The campaign is implemented as part of the “ECOSYSTEM” initiative, which contributes to the implementation of Greece’s 2nd National Action Plan against Racism and Intolerance. Through the development of practical tools, stronger cooperation between public authorities and civil society organisations, and awareness-raising activities, “ECOSYSTEM” aims to strengthen the prevention of and response to racism, discrimination and hate crime.
“ECOSYSTEM” is implemented by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs, KMOP – Social Action and Innovation Centre and the Greek National Commission for Human Rights (GNCHR), and is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme.
