Like father, like son

Like father, like son – Parental education and Augmented Reality to prevent bullying among children

This project aspires to provide parents with the tools needed to prevent bullying among children.

Grant Agreement Number: 2021-1-HR01-KA220-ADU-000035176

Funded by: Erasmus+      Duration: 15-02-2022 – 14-02-2024

Challenge

Today’s society has made progress and shown a slight openness to past taboo concepts, such as gender, sexual orientation, physical disability, mental illness, race, and religion. Despite this, cases of suicidal behavior among young people due to school bullying or cyberbullying remain a concerning issue. The last Eurostat report from 2016 showed that young people between the ages of 15 and 19, as well as young adults aged 20 to 24, died from self-harm at almost the same percentage as those who died from transportation accidents.

Innovation

The “Like father, like son” initiative aims to equip parents and guardians of children aged between 10 and 15 with knowledge and tools to help them explain the various aspects of diversity to children and young people. In doing so, it seeks to promote the understanding that diversity comes in many forms and should be considered normal and deserving of respect.

Action

The national report presents the situation of bullying, its main roots (school failure, parent-child relationship, usage of technology, the misconception of diversity, discrimination), its derivations (cyberbullying), and health consequences on the victims.

The learning material and AR Game aim to equip parents with appropriate skills and knowledge to prevent their children from being bullied in the school environment or online.

The guidelines provide parents and practitioners with the knowledge on how to apply the concepts learned through the learning material and AR Game about preventing bullying and empowering parenthood.
