Challenge

Across Europe, many autistic adults remain undiagnosed or choose not to disclose their condition in the workplace, often navigating stress, sensory challenges, and communication barriers without adequate support. Despite growing awareness of diversity and inclusion, HR professionals and managers frequently lack the knowledge and practical tools needed to recognise neurodiverse needs and create accessible working environments. As a result, many employees experience exclusion, burnout, limited career progression, or difficulties maintaining employment, while organisations miss opportunities to benefit from diverse perspectives, skills, and ways of thinking.

Innovation

Unveiling Potentials empowers HR professionals and managers to build workplaces where neurodivergent employees are recognised for their strengths, supported in their needs, and able to thrive professionally. By reshaping everyday workplace practices through inclusive communication, flexible approaches, and practical guidance, it helps organisations unlock overlooked talent and create environments where different ways of thinking drive innovation, wellbeing, and growth.

Action

The training programme raises awareness among HR professionals about common misconceptions surrounding autism spectrum disorder (ASD), while providing practical strategies to help them support neurodivergent employees in the workplace. It also introduces inclusive recruitment approaches and digital support tools for individuals who may choose not to disclose their autistic traits.

The online self-assessment tool helps HR professionals and managers evaluate how prepared their organisations are to support employees with undiagnosed or undisclosed autism. The tool identifies gaps in workplace practices and guides for creating more inclusive and supportive working environments.

Trained neurodiversity and ASD experts connect with HR professionals and managers seeking to implement more inclusive workplace practices. Through structured guidance, practical support, and ongoing exchange, mentors help organisations and professionals apply inclusive approaches in everyday work environments and adapt them to real organisational needs.

The policy recommendations are based on insights gathered from mentoring activities and pilot workplace workshops. The guidelines help organisations improve recruitment, communication, teamwork, and employee support for autistic adults who may not have a formal diagnosis, offering practical and adaptable approaches for more inclusive workplaces.
