The number of migrants has been constantly increasing in recent years and this phenomenon poses new challenges to host societies all around Europe. This flow should become an opportunity for enrichment and not a threat to citizens of host countries, and this depends on the ability of EU countries to facilitate and coordinate smooth integration processes. The migrants need to develop the skillset to enhance their life in the host country. In most cases, training courses for migrants on local languages and vocational training are necessary.

However, migrants often struggle to capitalise on the benefits of the educational and training pathways they are involved in and thus find it difficult to understand their new socio-cultural environment.

The RISING Project aims at addressing the lack of motivation among migrants to participate in further education and training. To achieve its goal, RISING will implement a mentoring model focused on giving advice and orientation to migrants and improving their socio-emotional skills, such as their motivation, self-esteem and proactivity.

This handbook will include innovative tools (e.g. exercises, games) as a resource pack to be used by mentors when working with mentees, namely in targeting their motivation and engagement.

To achieve this, an open consultation process will take place to understand how migrants feel in their integration process and collect success stories for the handbook.

This activity aims at explaining mentoring through interactive means- instead of words, in order to overcome language barriers. It will make use of several interactive resources (e.g. videos, multimedia) to attract mentees into mentoring programmes and keep their interest alive during their learning path.

This toolkit will support and systematise the accountability of mentoring programmes to stakeholders. The toolkit will consist of a robust and well-defined set of tools (i.e. infosheets) that will allow partners to start a good practice routine in terms of proving impact in all existing mentoring programs.
