Online Self-Assessment Tool on Child Protection policies in sports

παιδιά αθλητισμός

Available for sports clubs and coaches is the new online self-assessment tool, which has been developed in the framework of ACTIVE project. The tool addresses to sports clubs and organizations, that work with children, and help them evaluate their child protection policies, ethic guidelines and codes of conduct, as well as their competences in keeping children and young people safe in sport.

This tool helps sports clubs comply with the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in the practical context of their activities. It provides guidance on how the clubs/organizations should assess and reflect on their current practices and mechanisms, with a view to improve and/or develop an efficient child safeguarding policy and therefore reap benefits to all parties involved (children and their families as well as sports professionals, managers and other relevant persons).

Specifically, the online self-assessment tool has been developed in the context of the ACTIVE project, based on an extensive research in four EU member states: Greece, Cyprus, Italy, and Portugal. Through consultation with 243 sport club professionals, coaches, young athletes and parents of young athletes.

If you work in sports clubs, follow the link https://platform.activeproject.eu/en/, answer the questions and you will get an evaluation feedback form that will help you enhance the child protection policy at your club.

Children must be protected against any form of “violence” or abuse that may be caused in the sports activities and they have the right to practice sports activities in a safe environment.

We should join our forces to promote a safer sports environment for all children!
