More than 120 young people, representatives from youth organizations and 14 civil society organizations, convened on 18 April, for the second annual KMOP’s Youth Festival titled “Youth Initiatives in the Spotlight”, where they had the opportunity to showcase and learn about youth initiatives aimed at promoting active participation among young people in democratic and social life.
Journalist Marios Aravantinos moderated the event. Vasiliki Barka, Councillor for Civil Society at the Municipality of Athens, delivered a speech on behalf of the Municipality.
The primary goal of KMOP through the Youth Festival, held during European Youth Week, was to amplify the voices of young people advocating for a better and more sustainable society, foster dialogue between young individuals and youth organizations, address challenges related to strengthening democracy and active citizenship among youth, and highlight stories and impactful initiatives focusing on social rights, accessibility, and the upcoming European elections.
Within this framework, members of KMOP’s youth groups – Young Demo, Just EU and Me, and Hate Trackers – presented their efforts to promote active citizenship among peers, raise awareness about the European elections, and combat online hate speech.
The Festival was also joined by Cool Crips, EU Youth Hub, Europe Direct, Hellenic Youth Participation, Inter Alia, JEF Greece, METAdrasi, Roes Cooperativa, Solidarity Now, Tandem, ELIX, Organization Earth, and ORIZONTES – Network of Youth of Immigrant Origin, each presenting their initiatives for a more inclusive and sustainable society.
