Challenge

Bullying within school settings has undergone a menacing evolution, morphing into more organised and violent incidents among pupils. This exacerbation threatens the safety as well as the mental wellbeing and academic growth of students.

Innovation

SABE aims to enhance anti-bullying initiatives through gamification for students aged 7-16, incorporating evidence-based strategies to address violent organised behaviours and cyberbullying. The initiative also focuses on building teachers’ capacity and fostering a comprehensive approach to effectively tackle bullying in schools.

Action

A comprehensive training curriculum designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to understand, identify, prevent, and address bullying and violence in schools, covering the following aspects:
– Ιnsights into the root causes of bullying behavior and the psychological aspects involved
– Ιdentification of signs and intervention strategies
– Strategies for fostering inclusive and supportive school environments
– Techniques for promoting empathy and understanding among students (from bystanders to upstanders)
– Guidelines for effective communication between school, home, and the community
– Strategies for handling cyberbullying
– Supplementary materials, such as resource list including literature, websites, and
support networks, and a guide for teacher self-care and support
