Exploring how VET institutions can embed sustainability at the EfVET conference

Workshop KMOP

At the 35th EfVET Annual Conference in Brussels, KMOP facilitated a workshop on embedding sustainability across vocational education and training institutions.

KMOP took part in the 35th EfVET Annual Conference, held in Brussels from 21 to 23 October 2026. The event brought together more than 600 vocational education and training (VET) professionals, policymakers, researchers and learners from 35 countries to discuss the future of VET, skills development, international cooperation and education’s role in fostering active global citizenship.

As part of the programme, KMOP colleagues Sotiria Tsalamani and Danai Stavrou facilitated the interactive workshop “Greening Education: A Whole-Institution Approach to Sustainability in Education”. Drawing on the results of the AELIA – Education for Sustainability project, the session explored how VET institutions can integrate sustainability into teaching, leadership, day-to-day operations, and community partnerships.

Through practical scenarios and collaborative exercises, participants considered how institutions can move from individual green initiatives to a shared, organisation-wide approach. The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in turning sustainability commitments into concrete action.

The conference also offered an opportunity for KMOP to exchange ideas with professionals and organisations from across Europe and explore opportunities for future cooperation.
