Challenge

Europe has been facing several challenges over the last years (economic recession, terrorist attacks, refugee crisis) which have affected individuals, making them less tolerant and more reluctant to institutions. Also, the impotence of EU institutions to respond effectively to the needs of people has increased the doubt to the European integration and to the values of respect of human rights, freedom, democracy and equality. In such a challenging period the main goal is to avoid a depletion of democratic ideals that underpin the EU and democratic countries, increasing at the same time the feeling of EU citizenship.
