TRAINVOL

TrainVol: Capacity Building of Civil Society to Strengthen Volunteerism Management and Promote Volunteerism among Youth

Promoting skills development and labour market inclusion for young people (especially those belonging to vulnerable groups) through volunteerism.

Grant Agreement Number: 2016 – 1400 / 043 – 001

Funded by: Erasmus+       Duration: 01/02/2017-31/07/2018

Challenge

The position and prospect of young people within the society is a major issue, since they have been disproportionately affected by the recent economic downturn. Actually, the two main problems are the youth NEETs rates and youth unemployment as in 2015, 12% of young people were NEETs, while the youth unemployment rate was 20,3%.

Specifically, the NEETs rate in North Macedonia were 39%, in Greece were 23%, and 19% in Cyprus and Bosnia & Herzegovina. These characteristics highlighted the need for more tailor made opportunities to low-skilled youth population, with fewer opportunities and low labor market integration. Specifically, in Greece, Cyprus, North Macedonia and Bosnia & Herzegovina the situation was alarming.

Innovation

By promoting skills development through volunteering activities TrainVol will contribute to their labour market integration of low skilled young people.

Action

A training curriculum developed for low-skilled young people focused on key transversal skills requirements for volunteering activities (organisation, resilience, team work, conflict resolution, crisis management, empathy, dealing with difficult people etc.) and the introductory content (what are the needs, how to help, how it works, value of volunteering, diversity awareness, code of ethics etc.).

For more information see the Training Curriculum here.

A training curriculum developed for youth workers to build the capacities of youth workers on how to design and manage voluntary programmes and effectively train and engage young volunteers. The content is focused on volunteer recruitment, engagement; management, training newcomers, onboarding/orientation, skills-based volunteering and organization of voluntary activities.

The mobility provided the chance to youth workers to visit different volunteering and youth organizations ,across partner countries, who were involved in various actions.
