KMOP drives policy change for a stronger social economy across European regions

Secon meeting

KMOP joined local and regional stakeholders from nine European regions in Warsaw to advance policies that strengthen the social economy, during a two-day study visit hosted by the Mazowieckie Region of Poland on 1–2 October 2025.

Connecting with social enterprises in the Mazowieckie region

The first day offered an inspiring journey through the region’s social economy landscape, where we met social entrepreneurs who turn inclusion into action. Each visit showcased how social enterprises boost local employment, support vulnerable groups, and drive community-led innovation. From creating meaningful jobs to promoting sustainable local development, these initiatives demonstrated how the social economy can transform challenges into lasting opportunities.

Meeting social economy

Exchanging knowledge and strengthening policies

On the second day, discussions moved to the Office of the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, where experts and policymakers shared strategies to reinforce the social economy ecosystem. We learned about the work of the Mazovian Centre for Social Policy, the Civil Society Development Foundation, and several local social enterprises, all contributing to the region’s vibrant social economy. These exchanges highlighted how collaboration, policy innovation, and mutual learning can create the right conditions for social enterprises to thrive and scale their impact.

KMOP leads workshop on policy improvement

As part of the study visit, we conducted an interactive workshop on social economy policy development, guiding regional stakeholders through a collective review of their Policy Instruments. We created space for open dialogue and reflection on how regional actions can translate into tangible policy improvements. Stakeholders exchanged perspectives, identified challenges, and explored innovative approaches to strengthen their local ecosystems.

Discussions focused on six key areas shaping: i) Visibility & Awareness, ii) Capacity Building & Stakeholder Engagement, iii) Enabling Environment & Non-Financial Support, iv) Financial & Taxation Frameworks, v) Monitoring & Evaluation of Impact, vi) Inclusion & Social Innovation.

Working together for lasting impact

Through field visits, policy dialogue, and collaborative reflection, the meeting underscored the value of partnership and the power of collective action in shaping fairer, more resilient regions. At KMOP, we remain committed to promoting social economy and community-led job that enhance local resilience and social cohesion.

The study visit in the Mazowieckie Region formed part of our collaboration within the INTERREG Europe-funded project “SECON – Social Economy: Regional Policies for Supporting Social Economy Enterprises”.
