Πρόκληση

The global health crisis with its wide impact on all aspects of life further emphasised the need for the digital transition of organisations, institutions and industries. In the Cultural sector especially, the coronavirus pandemic has had and will continue to have an unprecedented impact on museums and cultural foundations all over the world. Cultural foundations, a pillar of the Cultural Sector, need to take steps towards the digitisation of their operation and to reshape the way they engage visitors. In particular, museums and cultural foundations need to adopt innovative technologies to reshape their operation, elevate their visitors’ experience and enhance their capacity to attract and engage young visitors. In particular, the adoption of augmented reality and virtual reality technology for the interactive storytelling and presentation of museum collections presents a unique and engaging prospect for the new era. Museums need to make considerable efforts to introduce AR and VR tools and applications in their operations and train their existing and prospective staff accordingly to be able to utilise them.

Καινοτομία

Δράσεις

In this action, a curriculum will be produced to equip participating adult educators/trainers, museums professionals, artists etc. with skills, key competencies, and knowledge about AR and cultural awareness. The Curriculum will provide participants with the necessary tools to address the relevant challenges that the cultural sector, museums and artists are facing. It will be designed to fill gaps and add value to the field of Cultural Heritage and Adult Education. Also, it will include a list of all the available digital tools for the use of Augmented Reality, relevant software, and lesson plans/scenarios related to cultural sector work.

The purpose of this Digital Booklet is to allow adult educators and museum professionals to critically reflect on their assumptions about AR activities and learning in the context of culture and the arts. It will offer adult educators and museum professionals the appropriate training and support on how to design, develop and use AR activities in their teaching practices and work.

MOOCs are online courses designed for a large number of participants, open to everyone for enrolment. In this Action, a MOOC will be developed based on principles of participatory learning. Some of the guiding principles include the following:

-Use of inquiry-based and problem-based learning approaches

-Accommodation of multiple learning styles.

-Content presentation in small modular chunks that will be able to provide just in time learning.

-Self-reflection through tutor support and guidance, and online journal-keeping.

-Provision of stories and case studies.
