KMOP invites you to the international conference “How to improve the support system for survivors of anti-LGBTIQ+ hate crimes”, which will take place on Thursday, November 13, in Girona, and will also be streamed live via YouTube.
The conference marks the final event of the European project ENACT (Enhancing the capacity of civil society organisations to support victims of anti-LGBTQI hate crimes), co-funded by the European Union. It is organized by the University of Girona, through the Social Sciences Research Group (CISA), in collaboration with universities and organizations from Italy, Lithuania, Slovenia, Greece, Hungary, and Spain.
The ENACT project aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to collaborate with public institutions and improve the real and effective support provided to LGBTIQ+ victims of hate crimes. Adopting an intersectional approach, the study analyses different national contexts across Europe to map the current situation and propose concrete measures and tools for institutions involved.
The conference will take place at the Josep Irla Auditorium in Girona and will feature the presentation of the project’s findings and conclusions by representatives from the participating universities. Distinguished speakers include Dr. Mark Walters, Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology and expert on hate crimes, and Saul Castro Fernández, lawyer specializing in hate crimes and LGBTIQ+ rights.
The event will also be attended by Mr. Julio del Valle de Iscar, Director General for the Real and Effective Equality of LGTBI+ People (Ministry of Equality), Mr. Alberto Lacasta Huelin, Director General of LGBTI+ Public Policies of the Government of Catalonia, and Dr. Joaquim Salvi, Rector of the University of Girona.
The conference is free and open to all. English-language presentations will be accompanied by simultaneous translation.
The event will be broadcast live via YouTube.
