On 24 February 2026, KMOP successfully hosted online the 1st informational session to present its new initiative “EmpoweerNEET” focused on empowering youth not in employment, education or training across the Mediterranean region.
Bringing together 66 participants from across the youth, employment, and social economy sectors, KMOP fostered dialogue around the challenges and opportunities related to youth inclusion and employability.
During the event, participants were introduced to the core objectives of EmpoweerNEET, a transnational initiative focused on supporting NEETs through their integration into the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). Through this initiative, KMOP promotes education and training, labour market integration, and social inclusion, offering capacity-building programmes, mentoring opportunities, and practical experiences such as job shadowing.
A key part of the session was an interactive discussion, where stakeholders shared insights on the main barriers faced by NEETs, including limited access to opportunities, skills gaps, and structural challenges in the labour market. Participants also explored potential solutions and identified areas where collaboration could enhance impact at the local level.
The session concluded with a presentation of opportunities for engagement in the project and an open invitation for stakeholders to express their interest in participating in upcoming activities. Afroditi Azari, Project Manager of EmpoweerNEET at KMOP, facilitated the session.
EmpowerNEET brings together partners from across the Mediterranean region, working collectively to empower young people and strengthen inclusive and sustainable economic models.
