KMOP, in cooperation with the German School of Athens and European organizations, trained 191 educators from Greece, Germany, Austria, Portugal and Finland on how to combine creative storytelling and sustainability education in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC).
Over the course of three dynamic webinars—delivered between February and April 2025—ECEC professionals, including kindergarten and preschool teachers, facilitators, and education practitioners, improved their skills in using creative storytelling and sustainability to create meaningful learning experiences that encourage critical thinking and spark imagination among young students.
Specifically, educators had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge in the following critical topics:
- Sustainability Education in ECEC and Opportunities of the SDGs: Educators learned how to incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into early childhood settings to introduce sustainability concepts at an early age and help children apply them in everyday life.
- The Pedagogy of Supporting Children to Become Creative Storytellers: Educators recognized the importance of fostering imagination, narrative expression, and critical thinking in children from an early age, as these are lifelong skills that are essential to develop early. By doing so, teachers can support children in learning storytelling and, through it, help them develop their self-expression.
- Digital & Technical Skills for Integrating Digital Elements in Storytelling: Educators tried out digital and media tools and see how technology can work together with creativity. This helped them improve their storytelling methods and learn how to use these tools effectively with children.
Each session encouraged open discussion, active participation, and the sharing of practical ideas. Educators showed a strong commitment to bringing positive change to early childhood education through creativity, sustainability, and the use of new tools.
