KMOP Raises Awareness of the EU Cohesion Policy’s Impact

KMOP Policy Center convened policymakers and citizens at the premises of the European Commission on 20 June for a public dialogue on the EU Cohesion Policy. The event, titled “Envisioning a More Social and Citizen-Centric Europe,” provided participants with the opportunity to discuss themes inspired by two key priorities of the EU Cohesion Policy: “A More Social Europe” and “A Europe Closer to Citizens.”

After a brief introduction to the objectives of the Cohesion Policy and examples of successful projects it has funded, KMOP’s invited speakers took the stage. Christos Koulouteris, serving as the ESF+ Representative, delivered an insightful overview of the European Social Fund, emphasizing its priorities and impact. Tony Venables, representing ECIT, addressed European citizens’ rights, involvement, and trust concerning their proximity to EU Cohesion Funds.

The event concluded with a vibrant discussion and contributions from the audience. The event was part of the EU-funded project CITADEL – Cohesion Policy is Standing by Cyprus, France & Belgium!, which aims to raise awareness across Cyprus, France, and Belgium about Cohesion Policy priorities and funded projects in these regions.
