KMOP successfully delivered training to 30 educators, aiming tos integrate the principles of sustainability and sustainable development into schools. The initiative, conducted in four training sessions in early April, focused on strengthening educators’ skills in designing and implementing sustainable practices within the school community.
Participants worked collaboratively to develop action plans tailored to the needs of their schools, proposing practices such as creating school gardens, implementing recycling programmes, and enhancing cooperation with local stakeholders. During the trainings, educators learnt also how to engage students and the wider community, ensuring that sustainability becomes embedded in school culture and daily life.
Rania El Ampasy, Senior Project Manager at KMOP, stated: “Through a holistic approach, we empowered educators to act as change leaders, ensuring that sustainability becomes an integral part of school life—not only in the curriculum but also in school governance and culture.”
This training forms part of KMOP’s broader efforts to promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Greece and abroad. It included experiential and collaborative activities exploring the school’s role as a driver of positive environmental and social change, pedagogical methods to enhance student engagement, as well as the use of digital tools and sustainability assessment frameworks. The training also addressed institutional challenges faced by schools, highlighting the need for systematic support and continuous professional development for educators.
If you are an educator seeking to strengthen your role as an agent of environmental and social change, you can access KMOP’s asynchronous training programme, developed in collaboration with European partners, and gain the tools to implement sustainability-focused initiatives in your school.
