New Free Educational Platform for Refugees and Migrants Integration

KMOP announces its new free educational platform, the History Box Training Hub, which supports refugees and migrants by providing an in-depth understanding of the history and culture of their host countries.

The History Box Project offers easily accessible micro-learning units for 5 European Countries (Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Sweden) designed for adult educators to integrate history education into their courses. These resources aim to facilitate the integration process by enhancing historical awareness, fostering social participation, and helping newcomers feel a sense of belonging.

Focus on Belgium: Discover Its Rich History and Cultural Heritage

The Belgian course within the History Box platform is specifically crafted to offer a comprehensive look at the nation’s diverse historical and cultural landscape. This course consists of 10 micro-units, each addressing key elements of Belgium’s past and present, providing essential knowledge for refugees and migrants to understand and navigate their new home.

Key topics covered in the Belgian course include:

  • Belgium’s Colonial Legacy: Explore Belgium’s colonial history, particularly in Congo, and understand the complex legacy of this period.
  • Art Nouveau in Brussels: Discover how the Art Nouveau movement has shaped Brussels’ architectural identity.
  • Belgium’s Comics and Creativity: Celebrate Belgium’s world-famous contributions to comics, including iconic characters like Tintin and the Smurfs.

Additional units cover Belgium’s role in the European Union, the country’s medieval heritage, and its culinary elements. The course provides insights that go beyond historical dates, helping participants understand Belgium’s societal evolution and cultural diversity.
