GA number: 2023-1-CZ01-KA220-YOU-000152344

Funded by: Erasmus+     Duration: 01/09/2023 – 31/08/2025

Challenge

A growing body of research suggests that promoting wellbeing can be an effective approach to addressing drug prevention among young people in Europe. Despite evidence that integrating wellbeing education into drug awareness interventions can lead to tangible and lasting results for youth, this approach has not yet been widely adopted in the field of youth work.

Innovation

Chill Pill aims to enhance drug awareness among youth by promoting positive wellbeing and mental health education. It seeks to empower young people to become peer leaders in advocating for mental health and support youth workers.

Action

A toolkit turning young people into peer wellbeing coaches and promote alternative coping skills to prevent drug use, consisting of two main components: a Peer-led Wellbeing Coaching Programme and a Digital Content Creation Toolkit.

The Peer-led Wellbeing Coaching Programme includes four modules: introduction to wellbeing coaching, development of active listening skills, wellbeing as a strategy to prevent drug use, and strategies for managing stress and difficult emotions.

The Digital Content Creation Toolkit offers practical activities across twelve topics:

-Writing and developing a compelling script
-Basic camera techniques and composition
-Lighting and sound design for film
-Creating a storyboard and shot list
-Acting and directing techniques for film
-Editing techniques and software basics
-Colour grading and post-production effects
-Developing a film marketing plan and social media strategy
-Guidelines for safe social media sharing
-How to deal with negative feedback and online criticism
-Promoting mental health and wellbeing in film
-Exploring the benefits of peer-to-peer support and coaching

These comprehensive resources serve as a complete guide to enhancing wellbeing, preventing drug use, and fostering digital content creation skills among young people.

An upskilling training programme for youth workers consisting of three modules: Introduction to wellbeing coaching, communication and empathy skills, and developing personal resilience.

The programme includes 24 hours of workshop-based learning designed to build the core competencies of youth workers, enabling them to promote and deliver youth wellbeing coaching, and provides a practicioner’s handbook with role-playing scenarios and other activities to facilitate communication with young people.
