Challenge

According to the UN, world food production needs to double by 2050 to cater to its exponential population growth and evolving food habits. This fact inherently entails concerns about the associated environmental impacts of climate change on biodiversity, soil, and water quality, and the global marketplace’s demands (FAO, 2017). With its innovative methodology, GrandFriend aims to invigorate the process of achieving 2050 goals, increase involvement in the Agricultural sector, and contribute to the rising needs of the marketplace’s demands.

Innovation

GrandFriend aims to cultivate the entrepreneurial mindset among new and experienced agro-entrepreneurs by raising awareness of the benefits of Intergenerational Programs in Agricultural development and promoting knowledge–sharing between older and younger generations in the agriculture sector.

Action

This pedagogical guidebook aims to raise awareness of the benefits of Intergenerational Programs for the new and former generations of agro-entrepreneurs, to address the problems these generations face, and to involve more agricultural organizations and other stakeholders in Intergenerational Programs.

This Digital Game is dynamic and provides the players a “gateway to immersive experience” in improving their knowledge, literacy, and behavior. Through this Digital Game, players can learn from the tutors and gain new knowledge through a non-linear dialogue that provides multiple scenario paths.

The module is composed of 10 lessons and a thorough and extensive list of sources on contemporary sustainable agricultural practices and entrepreneurial skills.
