ICEX

ICEX – Innovative and Culturally Sensitive Educational Package for Migrants’ Sexual Health Education

ICEX aims to enhance migrants’ sexual health & wellbeing by increasing the knowledge and the access to sexual health education among adult migrants and professionals working with them.

Grant Agreement Number: KA220-ADU-BC19EB0E

Funded by: Erasmus+      Duration: 01/11/2022 – 31/10/2025

Challenge

Sexual health is an important part of the overall health and well-being of individuals and sexuality is a natural part of humanity throughout life. Migrants in Europe face various sexual health problems which can be caused due to a changed life situation or previous incidences. The specific topic is very sensitive not only because of the lack of sexual and reproductive health policies and sexual education – both among migrants and professionals working with them –, and language barriers but also because of the cultural aspect. Migrants with different backgrounds, values, attitudes, and social norms need to be addressed with respect by the professionals working with them.

Innovation

ICEX aims to reform sexual health education of adult migrants and professionals working with them, by developing educational material & culturally sensitive tools based on the INNOPEDA. A teaching and learning approach which brings together migrants and professionals.

Action

ICEX Framework includes the knowledge and pedagogical practices that promote sexual health education among adult migrants and professionals working with them.

Τhe ICEX educational package includes innovative and culturally sensitive materials in sexual health education for migrants and professionals working with them. It aims to strengthen the professionals’ skills in motivating, guiding, and advising migrants on sexual health issues.

The eHandbook provides professionals working with adult migrants with guidelines on how to use the innovative and culturally sensitive tools. Also, it includes evidence-based theoretical information about sexual health.
