SHIELD

European AI-Powered Gender Based Violence Reduction Initiative

An initiative providing AI-driven solutions to gender-based violence among youth

GA number: 101183243

Funded by: Erasmus+    Duration: 01/10/2024 – 30/09/2027

Challenge

Gender-based violence (GBV) among youth manifests in various forms, including stalking, sexual harassment, dating violence, and online grooming, as highlighted by recent studies. The impact of GBV, ranging from physical injuries to psychological trauma, is far-reaching, affecting individuals, families, and society as a whole, and leading to a cycle of violence that can perpetuate across generations.

Innovation

SHIELD pioneers the use of AI as a proactive tool to combat the pervasive and deeply sensitive issues of gender-based violence (GBV) among youth, specifically addressing harassment, stalking, teenage dating violence, and online grooming. It provides innovative tools and training for both young people and youth workers.

Action

An interactive and accessible training and awareness platform that equips youth workers with the knowledge and tools to recognise and combat gender-based violence (GBV), fosters a safe environment, and enhances the digital competencies by integrating technology for social impact.

An application featuring an AI-based chatbot that acts as a self-assessment tool for youth to identify risk situations and as a guidance resource for youth workers, helping them effectively navigate the training and awareness platform materials.
