The launch of the first Parenting School in Piraeus captured the pulse of the modern family, with more than 60 parents actively participating in the opening session on Monday, 2 March. The initiative, implemented by KMOP in collaboration with the Municipality of Piraeus, aims to become a consistent point of support for strengthening the parenting role.
At a time when parents and caregivers are increasingly called upon to navigate complex social, educational and digital challenges, the Parenting School provides practical tools, evidence-based knowledge and expert guidance on issues that shape everyday family life.
What participants will gain
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- communicate more effectively and empathetically with their children
- set and maintain healthy boundaries
- manage conflicts and everyday family challenges
- address the challenges of adolescence and the digital age
The programme will continue with nine weekly sessions held every Monday in Piraeus.
On the occasion of the launch, Yiannis Moralis, Mayor of Piraeus, stated:
“The Parenting School is a meaningful initiative that offers parents knowledge, guidance and practical tools to help them respond with confidence to the increasing demands of modern family life. This initiative is part of the programme agreement signed between the Municipality of Piraeus and KMOP, reaffirming our commitment to developing targeted interventions with a strong social impact.
We remain dedicated to initiatives that support families and contribute to a more supportive environment for our children and for the future of our city.”
Similarly, Dr. Antonia Torrens, General Director of KMOP and President of COFACE Families Europe, emphasized:
“At a time of significant social and demographic changes across Europe, alongside growing concerns around children’s mental health and digital exposure, supporting parents is not a luxury but a necessity.
Through the Parenting School, we are creating a space for support, knowledge and meaningful dialogue. By providing evidence-based tools, we aim to empower parents to respond with confidence, consistency and emotional awareness to their children’s needs and to the challenges of contemporary family life.”
