What might your automatic reactions to younger and older people reveal?
KMOP launches the second Implicit Association Test (IAT) in its series of open social research tools, this time exploring automatic associations related to age.
The new test invites you to explore the automatic associations you may make about younger and older people. These associations can form without conscious thought and may differ from the views or beliefs we consciously express.
How does the test work?
The test measures how quickly you associate positive and negative words with images of younger and older people.
There are no right or wrong answers. The aim is to help you explore the automatic associations you may make without conscious thought and become more aware of how you perceive age.
The test takes around five minutes and is anonymous and voluntary.
A wider research initiative
The test is part of KMOP’s wider initiative to explore attitudes, perceptions and social patterns related to equality, inclusion and social cohesion.
It follows the first IAT in the series, which focused on automatic associations related to gender and career-family roles.
