Aiming to dismantle societal barriers and amplify the voices of young people with disabilities in decision-making processes, KMOP, together with the organisations Fundacion Manos Tendidas (Spain), Alda (France), Aproximar (Portugal), and Asociacija “Kūrybinės Ateities Idėjos” (Lithuania), are implementing the project “Extraordinary Citizens” (Extra-C).
As part of this project, the consortium of partner organisations carried out a Training of Trainers at the Mafamude Parish Centre in Vila Nova de Gaia, in Portugal, between January 23 and 26, 2024. During this event, the “Promoting the Democratic Participation of Young People with Disabilities Training Programme Manual” was presented, to 12 trainers providing them the necessary tools to work with youth people with disabilities in the topic. The training consisted of six modules concerning human and civil rights; democracy and democratic participation of people with disabilities; the main European democratic values; a voice in the decision-making process; relationships and socio-emotional learning; and participatory actions with people with disabilities.
