REVERS-ED

Trends in educational inequalities over time and successful interventions that contribute to reversing them

An initiative aiming at addressing and reversing educational inequalities

GA number: 101132470

Funded by: HORIZON EUROPE     Duration: 31/10/2022-30/10/2025

Challenge

Research through the decades has demonstrated the existence and persistence of educational inequalities. These inequalities particularly affect vulnerable groups of students such as those with low socioeconomic status or a migratory history, who more frequently show high rates of early school leaving and low school performance.

Innovation

REVERS-ED is dedicated to uncovering trends in educational inequalities across Europe and generating scientific evidence on interventions that effectively reduce and reverse them over time. By transforming these effective interventions into evidence-based policies, REVERS-ED seeks to drive systemic change, promoting more inclusive educational environments and improved learning outcomes for all.

Action

A study using existing longitudinal data to track cohorts of primary and secondary school students over time, focusing on learning outcomes and trends in educational inequalities (e.g., socioeconomic, racial, geographic).

A cohort study identifying educational interventions that have been successful in enabling students to succeed despite disadvantages.

Qualitative studies to gain deeper insights into the educational factors and components that contribute to positive student outcomes, particularly in disadvantaged contexts.

The policy recommendations offer to policymakers and educational statistics experts guidance to effectively address educational inequalities.

This Project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No 101132470.
