Enhancing Inclusive Access to Career Counselling

An initiative promoting equal access to career counselling services

GA number: KA220-ADU-C9D19B0B

Funded by: Erasmus+      Duration: 01/10/2024-30/09/2026

Challenge

In a rapidly evolving labor market, the need for inclusive and accessible career counselling has become increasingly important. As workforce demands change, career guidance should adapt to remain relevant and available to all. However, socially disadvantaged adults often face significant barriers to accessing quality career counselling and employability training, including economic constraints, physical disabilities, educational limitations, and social stigma. These challenges make it harder for them to navigate their career paths and achieve their professional goals.

Innovation

Access Career aims to foster inclusivity and accessibility in career counselling for underprivileged groups. To achieve this, it equips counsellors with tools to recognize and address stereotypes, especially in AI-driven applicant screening, where biases can often emerge.

Action

A comprehensive curriculum aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of career counsellors to better support individuals in their career development. The curriculum covers key topics such as career assessment, guidance strategies, and labour market trends.

A virtual training course designed to equip experienced career counsellors with the necessary tools to train others. This approach ensures that the reach of career guidance training is scalable and sustainable.

A series of activities designed to engage HR professionals, career counsellors, and organisations serving socially disadvantaged individuals, with the goal of sharing best practices and developing accessible guidance tools for effective career self-management. These activities also serve as a connection point for employers and HR professionals, facilitating networking opportunities and promoting increased employer engagement in workforce development programmes.

A campaign aimed at raising awareness of the available career guidance resources and the importance of accessible workforce development, disseminating information and encouraging widespread participation. Policy recommendations will be developed to advocate for systemic changes.
