We are excited to announce that KMOP is among the 9 finalists, from 87 submissions, of the #BeInclusive EU Sports Awards 2021. The#BeInclusive EU Sport Awards invited all organisations in Europe – public or private, commercial or not-for-profit – that have successfully developed sports projects aimed at social inclusion, to submit their applications.
Our Sailaway initiative, which aims at supporting the participation of children and youth with developmental disabilities in sailing, has been selected in the category “Celebrating Diversity”. Working on this topic, we had the opportunity to contribute towards a more inclusive sports environment, foster social inclusion and develop the personal skills of children and youth with ASD.
But what we did? We trained 200 sports professionals in 6 European countries on how to effectively involve children with ASD in sailing activities and programmes, engaged 15 children in sailing activities, and raised awareness and informed more than 300k people – including parents, children, stakeholders- across Europe on the positive effects of sailing to children.
At KMOP, we reaffirm our commitment to making use of sports’ power in order to break barriers, celebrate diversity and inspire change.
