KMOP, the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs, and the Greek National Commission for Human Rights (GNCHR) have launched a new nationwide awareness campaign to prevent and address racism, discrimination, and intolerance in Greece.
“Den exeis thesi edw – You don’t belong here” is the phrase that captures the experience reported by eight in ten people who took part in a nationwide survey conducted by KMOP through the ECOSYSTEM project. This reality is at the heart of a new campaign coordinated by KMOP, which draws attention to the discrimination that many people in Greece continue to face because of their national or ethnic origin, religion or beliefs, disability, age, sex, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.
At the heart of the campaign is racism-victim-support.gr, a comprehensive platform providing information, guidance and support for people who have experienced or witnessed racism, discrimination or hate crime.
Through the platform, people can:
- learn about their rights;
- recognise incidents of racism and discrimination;
- access practical guides and educational resources;
- find relevant organisations and available support mechanisms.
The campaign is implemented as part of the “ECOSYSTEM” initiative, which contributes to the implementation of Greece’s 2nd National Action Plan against Racism and Intolerance. Through the development of practical tools, stronger cooperation between public authorities and civil society organisations, and awareness-raising activities, “ECOSYSTEM” aims to strengthen the prevention of and response to racism, discrimination and hate crime.
“ECOSYSTEM” is implemented by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs, KMOP – Social Action and Innovation Centre and the Greek National Commission for Human Rights (GNCHR), and is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme.
