KMOP joins forces with European regions to enhance the accessibility to cultural resources for people with disabilities and varied needs. During the kick-off meeting of the “Open Region Culture” initiative in Krakow on 12-13 June, participants explored effective practices implemented in the Malopolska region.
They learned about the Małopolska Culture Program, a project initiated in 2016 to improve accessibility across 23 regional cultural institutions. The program has evolved to address the diverse needs of all visitors, inspiring cultural, social, and educational policies at both political and strategic levels.
Participants also visited the Home Army Museum, which offers accessible features such as an audio-visual guide for the visually impaired and tactile objects like maps and helmets. As part of the “History Catches the Ear: Deaf on the Trail” project, the museum created 27 sign language videos and offers weekly “silent hours” for visitors with autism.
